Comparative Assessment of water usage and impacts arising from Biofuel projects in South East Asian Countries

Overview:

The objective of this project was to assess the full life cycle account of water used in the production of sugarcane and cassava ethanol production in Thailand and palm oil biodiesel in Malaysia; assess initial life cycle account of water used in the production of second-generation ethanol derived from bagasse in Thailand; future water demand associated with biofuel production; and impact of water demand associated with biofuel on local water systems.
