Review of irrigation management transfer reform in Asia
The purpose of this project was to provide a state of the art review of current status of irrigation in Asia and the challenges faced thereof. This entailed three detailed background papers and a consolidated report on Future Investment Options. The first background paper looked at trends and drivers of Asian irrigation, the second paper looked at food production projections till 2025, while the third paper looked into irrigation management reforms and reasons for its success and failure in Asia. The final output of this project was a report titled ?Revitalizing Asia?s Irrigation: What are the options for the future??. This was released at the Stockholm Water Week in August 2009 and successfully influenced ADB?s thinking on irrigation reforms.
