Duration : July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009
(Extended to April 15, 2010)

This project contributed to the development of the Jiangsu Yancheng Wetland Protection Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) by conducting a program of applied research and subsequently demonstrating application in the Jiangsu Yancheng Wetland Protection Project. It also measured

  1. key linkages and drivers between agriculture, aquaculture, wetland ecosystems and local livelihoods;
  2. key trade-offs between agriculture, aquaculture and other ecosystem services in terms of conservation and livelihood security;
  3. adaptation and application of a methodology for this trade-off analysis; and
  4. implications for national agriculture and wetland policies.
Specifically, this PDA seeks to contribute to the overall project?s strategic planning process with regard to balancing its biodiversity conservation and poverty reduction/development objectives.
